A Little Bit About Me...

I am a high school senior and I have received straight-A's every year. I have taken math classes up to the multivariable calculus level and have scored in the top percentiles on every standardized math test I have taken. I have also done very well in science, particularly in biology where I have received A's in two college level biology courses, scored an 800 (a perfect score) on the Biology SAT II, and a 5 (a perfect score) on the AP Biology exam. I also have experience in tutoring reading comprehension at the elementary school level. I am very patient and eager to tutor for any age or grade level.

I am a junior at Rollins College studying marine biology. I have many years of experience in the sciences with my main focus on biology/marine biology. I took AP Biology in high school and have spent the past three years furthering my education in marine biology. I am also proficient at Spanish. I took it for 6 years before college including AP Spanish, and was a Spanish tutor in high school.
I am a very hands on learner so I like to get students actively involved in their learning. However, I understand that some people like taking notes and are more of a visual learner. I am very capable of approaching tutoring in this manner if that is what the student prefers.

I graduated from Morehead State University with a BS in Chemistry and a Geology minor in 1996. I used this degree to obtain work in my field, and outside of my field for the past 14 years. I have strong, hands-on experience with Chemistry principles and have experienced them on a daily basis for over 5 years. I try a variety of approaches to see what works with each student. If you have 25 students in a class, you can have 25 different learning styles. I believe a lot in hands-on and learning from others. Questions are always welcome. I continually do course work to keep up on new approaches. Being teachable is key. I have seen students I work with have success.
