I can adapt my teaching style to auditory, visual or hands-on type learning. I try to create a relaxed and fun (silly for the little ones) atmosphere where learning will be fun and memorable, because I believe that if you enjoy it - you'll remember it. All students will be given a pre-test prior to instruction so that I can decern if the students problem is one of cognative development or simply gaps in the learning process. I try to help the student relate their learning to real world experiences.

I believe everyone has the ability to learn and that this truth is one of our defining qualities as humans. The problem arises when we expect the human mind to work in the same way in every individual, when we attempt to use the same strategies to teach the differing learning styles. I begin with each person by learning myself. I need to know what learning style works best for that person, what has been tried in the past, and his/her successes and failures. At all times, when one person is working with another, and especially when one is in the position of aiding another, we must only speak those things which encourage and edify. A Little Bit About Me...

Scaffolding and positive reinforcement describes my teaching style; combined with a healthy dose of humor and individual, associative modeling. Learning should be fun and challenging. Busy work doesn't have to take such a negative connotation.
My experience is as broad as it is varied. When I taught at Sylvan, I taught every course they needed me to. When I taught professionally, I taught teams of scientists and then instructional designers. I'm comfortable with all ages and backgrounds.
