From working with various types of students, I have learned that not everyone can learn material in the same manner. I myself am able to relearn and understand material very quickly and effectively. It is this skill that has allowed me to help friends, "little brothers," and teammates learn material that was previously a struggle for them. Typically, most students I have worked with are fairly bright, it is just about finding the right way to explain the complicated science in plain english so that they can understand it. Tell the right story, use the right analogy, or draw the right parallels and the student can grasp and understand almost anything.
I have previously worked in a laboratory where I had the opportunity to work with students rotating through my laboratory for school credit. I was an adjunct clinical instructor with the Department of Biotechnology and Clinical Laboratory Sciences with University at Buffalo. Although some students were only there two weeks, most were there three to five months, and it was my responsibility to show them all the analyses that were performed in my laboratory, as well as make sure they understood the theory behind the analyses.

I believe that different teaching styles help different students. A method of both lecture and active learning can be effective for the widest range of students. This allows the students to get a brief introduction to the day’s material before they work in groups on questions about the material. I feel that student’s can learn best from each other because they are all at the same level. If a group is unsure of an answer they can always ask the teacher or look it up in a book. My teaching style is to have a set of problems made up for the students to observe as examples to help understand certain chapters. I will assign additional problems if needed and focus on the subject matter that is the hardest for the individual to understand.
