Learn with experienced, successful tutor

My style of tutoring is creative flexibility. I assess the student's learning style and try to adapt to that, using different senses (kinetic, aural, oral) to trigger best responses. However, this is layered over a basic multi-part structure suited to the subject. I also like to set up a schedule of what our hour will be like, with some beginning exercises (usually recall from previous session). The rest of the hour would be structured with student input as much as possible. At the end, I like to introduce some free time to talk about the lesson and about any new ideas.

When I was working as a secretary I knew I wanted to further my education. I returned to school and completed my bachelor of science in education. My teaching style comes more from a facilitators approach, and not a micro-management view. I have learned for the most part that students have the answers to questions and have original ideas, given the appropriate direction and positive support.
I have a Business Speech Communications degree with a minor in English. After achieving that degree, I went on to earn a secondary teaching credential in English. Later, I found an opportunity at UNR to become a tutor at the writing center. There I direct students to better their papers (in all disciplines) by facilitating.
