I taught three years in a Public School system and thirteen years at Hamilton Business College at Mason City, Iowa. I taught all phases of accounting while at Hamilton. After I retired from teaching, I became the accountant for three different firms in Mason City ( an oral surgeon, ready mix company and a road contractor) for eight years. My Husband and I moved to a retirement community in Waukee about four years ago after spending 46 years in the Mason City-Clear Lake area. I returned to the University of Northern Iowa to start working toward a Master Degree in Accounting so I might be able to teach again. At Amherst College, we were encouraged to pursue a wide variety of subjects in addition to our major. I studied math for several years, some Biology, Latin and Greek. I had a semester of graduate school at Iowa in Classics. At Tulane, I studied advanced statistics as well as marketing. I had two years of Spanish at DMACC.
