I attended a preparatory school in Junior High and High School. I then went on to Mississippi College where I obtained a Bachelor degree in Home Economics with an emphysis on Fashion Merchandising. When I became a mom, I decided to home school my kids so that I could take an active part in their education and I could guide them in ways that someone else might not find interesting or important.
I love to learn and everyone learns differently. I believe that if the information is not being understood one way, then we need to find another way to instruct. Hands-on learning and learning through experience always leaves a lasting impression. Since I was very young I tutored my brother on many occasions in reading and math. I believe everyone has a gift, and I knew that teaching was that gift for me. For 32 years I spent many hours in the classroom helping children to succeed. Not only was this succeeding in academics, but also in self-esteem as well. I spent time after school tutoring in elementary math and reading. My philosophy includes the fact that every child can succeed. I teach with hands-on learning using all of the senses.
