My comments on tutoring Drawing : Drawing skills developed through the skill of seeing. Drawing exercises emphasize careful drawing from images and still life and utilize a range of drawing materials and techniques. Outside assignments required. Students will become familiar with the following: use of pencil, marker, charcoal, India Ink pen and brush work; intuitive, one and two-point perspectives, pure contour and modified contour drawing, gesture drawing, foreshortening, value, texture, composition, and negative space drawing. Although textbooks are not required, a list of suggested reading will be made available. Hand-outs and demonstrations will be presented.

Coming from a family of educators, I knew from an early age that I would become a teacher myself; therefore, all the steps taken to prepare for my professional life have been to enable me to be the best teacher I can be. I received both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees at the University of South Alabama. I received classroom teaching experience at a local middle school and as a university instructor. I currently have an extremely rewarding position with the Mobile Housing Board developing, coordinating, and instructing GED preparation classes. With this program I teach GED concepts and both group and individually tutor numerous students. A Little Bit About Me...

I am still developing a teaching style. However, I know from personal experience that constructing knowledge requires much more than reading a textbook. All learners have unique learning styles that influence learning success. A student’s favored learning style is a valuable resource for a tutor, allowing the student to discover more about the world and themselves while simultaneously developing a joy for learning. I started tutoring math when I attended Faulkner State College. I then attended the University of South Alabama where I tutored math and physics. I have tutored all levels of math and also tutored not only physics, but lab activites as well.
I have always been a quick learner when it comes to mathematics. It is something that comes almost natural to me. With that said, I understand that this is not the case for everyone. I feel that a good majority of people hate math because they don't understand math, and because they don't understand math right away, they don't try to understand it. I had a wise professor once tell me, "Math isn't difficult; there is no such thing as difficult math. It just seems difficult because you haven't learned it yet". I think math can be easy for anyone, they just have to learn it first.
