A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Jefferson High School in the spring of 2012. I now attend Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne. I have two younger siblings and 4 younger step-siblings that I have helped with their homework, or helped them better understand material assigned to them. Their ages range from 8-17. I know how to explain certain subjects in multiple ways to ensure that eventually the student will understand the material. I am very patient, and I understand that some people learn at slower rates than others. I am majoring in nursing, though I considered teaching English before making this decision. I love teaching, and am looking to make some extra money for things I need while in college.
My teaching style varies upon subject and student.

Honor Student hoping to help students achieve success

I never learned best when I was just asked to read a passage out of a book. I need to be able to apply what I am learning and understand why what I am learning is important. I will do my best to tutor students in a more hands-on manner.
Hello! My name is Kayla Bear. I am a first-year student at Purdue University; however, I am a sophomore according to my credit hours. I earned college credit in high school to get ahead of the game. I worked as a peer mentor throughout high school, helping students with their homework and helping prepare them for tests such as the SAT. I have taken a number of courses in various subjects, so I feel that I am able to help a wide range of students. I was editor of my high school yearbook last year, so I have a lot of experience training people in writing and grammar. I was also asked to tutor Statistics for Purdue University due to my high achievement ... read more

I am a retired Special Education teacher. I was employed by Madison Consolidated Schools until this past June. Exercise your mind! Read, Write and Rule!

I am very creative by nature and a visual learner. I come with the ability to draw and teach through out of the box tangible ways as well as use traditional methods. I am patient but have high expectations for every student I encounter and push them to succeed. I can empathize with students having difficulty in school but never let them settle for less. The brain is like a muscle. Some of us just have to exercise more than others to be strong in particular subjects. aehosins@iupui.edu
I have worked with youth in several settings from bedside tutor to lead English and Special Education teacher positions for the past 5 years. I tutored at bedside in Riley Childrens in 2007 and by 2008 I was working as an after school counselor in Indianapolis. I went on to proctor tests for students with special needs and new language learners at IUPUI in 2010. I had teacher observation experiences a ... read more

Having two wonderful elementary teachers, I was inspired to become a teacher. I graduated in 1988 with an Elementary Education degree. I began my career as a teacher's aide but soon decided to be a stay-at-home mom to my two children. In 1994, I began to home teach my three children. I graduated my youngest in 2008. In 2004, I substitute taught for two local school districts. In spring 2008 I renewed my teaching license. I received my first teaching job at a Christian school in Indianapolis where I taught first grade. The school downsized so I resigned allowing the tenured teachers to keep their jobs. (I was the last hired, therefore would have been the first to go). Since that time, I have been a substitute teacher and a tutor.
I love teaching. I care deeply for my students and their individual learning needs. I am able to combine an inviting learning environment with good discip ... read more
