Determining the learning styles of individual students is important to me. I adjust and accomodate my approach based on how students respond and learn. I believe all children are born with the same amount of human potential. However, I’m disheartened by what I’ve witnessed in Mississippi’s public schools: that many children are failing to read at grade level. They are often “left behind.” My approach to teaching is driven by my belief that all children can learn if given the cognitive stimulation coupled with a nurturing, learning environment.
