I am only 19 and i graduated class of 2011. I've had a lot of help when i was in school so i know it can be stressful and tough but i found it a lot easier when i got help from people. Kids may be shy or maybe they just find the work is to hard and there scared to get help but i'm easy and outgoing i don't force kids to do there work. It takes time for them to understand how to work things out how to talk to teachers.
I have plenty that i've been tought so maybe using some of them could help the students understand better.

I feel that understanding the 'why' leads people to more easily grasp larger concepts and makes mistakes easier to recognize. After that practice is absolutely necessary: repetition IS the mother of learning. For children all this has to be presented in an accessible way. I try to contextualize problems in math and science in order to make them easier for children to grasp. Youtube has made potentially dangerous science projects unnecessary in order to illustrate certain concepts, while additional resources, such as the Khan Academy, make math problems easier to review. As a student who has graduated with her Bachelor's in Communication of Technology and is about to graduate with her Master's of Science in Information Technology I had to obtain a level of understanding of: Math, English, Technology and Business. I was able to apply these subjects to the middle school children I tutored for the past 5 years.
My method of teaching is focusing on the areas that the student is struggling with. Once I have an understanding of what he or she is struggling with I can review with him/her the basics, so we can work our way up to the area that there is a learning curve. Some students stop when they cannot grasp the concepts in math but I am able to help them see that it is not that difficult once you learn the basics.
