In January of 2008, I was hired to work at the University of Akron – Wayne College Learning Center as a peer tutor. We are responsible for helping students that come in seeking tutoring (including test preparation and homework help). Over the past two plus years, I have tutored students in mathematics (college level basic math 1 through calculus one) and chemistry. I believe in learning to do things the "hard" way for math, making change, etc. Calculators are good for higher functions and after basics are learned. During my time at Hocking Technical College, I was taking alot of biology related classes such as Botany, Ohio Trees, Aquatic Ecology and many other related classes. I was a tutor for 1 year, teaching students about learining there trees by showing them out in the field and also teaching them latin names for these specific trees.
