A Little Bit About Me...

I am passionate about chemistry and history, and I always enjoy helping students in these fields. Organic chemistry can be difficult for many students, but I believe one-on-one tutoring is a great way to help students. I find that visual learning through models, drawings, and written equations can be an effective way to retain knowledge. Enjoyment can be key to learning, and I endeavor to make learning as fun as possible.
I graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute,a college that prides itself in a rigorous curriculum with a strong emphasis on projects that its students prepare for a real world experience. WPI’s fast paced 7 week terms helped me learn time management skills, self teaching, and working in groups. I have earned a BS in chemistry with a focus on organic synthesis, as well as a concentration in history, specifically the history technology. The projects I completed ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

While going to college at the UW – Eau Claire, I've been a math and statistics tutor for the past four years. I've also been a Teacher’s Assistant for a statistics Professor where my duties consisted of running review sessions for the class before quizzes and exams along with grading homework and exams. I have completed four statistics courses dealing with different areas of statistics. I also have experience in one-on-one tutoring. Over the past four years I’ve tutored seven students individually meeting at the library to work. Last year, though, I worked with a student who had Cerebral Palsy. I worked with him individually at his own home. I thought it was a great experience and we had a blast working together.
I go through all the concepts with the individual pertaining to what portion of statistics they are studying at that time. I will then walk them through a couple of exam ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching students to think and to comprehend their material, not just memorize facts. I want to make sure that they can work and perform independently. I am patient and doggedly work to ascertain that they understand and use varied techniques and technologies to help them do so. I want to be interactive with my students and not just a lecturer, so I invent learning games and other interactive activities to enhance their enjoyment in learning. In the end, I teach them how to teach themselves to learn, and try to make learning a positive experience.

More About This Tutor...

I enjoy teaching and investing in children. I was credentialed as a Substitute Teacher. When I taught in public schools teachers would request me by name to teach for their classes. I have experience working with elementary ages through high school and even adults. When teaching I try to break complex materials and concepts down into practical illustrations and concepts so the student can see the big picture then fit the concept into that picture. I don't believe in just teaching raw data for kids to memorize, but instead try to illustrate concepts in ways that they can understand to enable them to best understand the material.
I have two B.S. Degrees, one in Humanities and the other in Technical Project Management. Computer experience - Microsoft classes and college courses in networking and web design. My most recent job I was an IT Project Manager. I have 15 years of ex ... read more
