It truly depends on the student and the subject. I try to adapt my teaching style to what the student needs. If one approach is not working, then we can work together to find an approach that does. I believe that it is important for the student to be able to relate to the teacher and it is the teachers job to create that connection. Over the past 15 years I have had variety of different teaching experiences. I taught literature as a TA at UC Santa Barbara while studying for my Masters. I have tutored K-12 students in both Math and English. While studying for my undergraduate I assited in running a homeless shelter where I taught many of the children reading, writing, and math. I am currently teaching at Kids College in a community college in Orange County. I have the passion to teach mathematics from elementary to high school level in a classroom setting.
