As a graduate from UNC Charlotte, I earned a BS degree in Mathematics with a minor in Chemistry. I enjoy seeing children discover the world around them in their own ways. Therefore, I teach the importance of working things out until you understand it for yourself. Children will meet and often surpass any goal that is given to them if you show that you believe in them. I use a hands-on approach, as much as possible, with a problem-solving emphasis. I firmly believe that a child remembers things more if he is able to work it out for himself. As a result, I take more of a mentoring position the older the child is. I have been told by some of my past students that I made science fun for them and that science used to be their worst subject, but with me as their teacher they found it to be their favorite subject. I am a graduate of Virginia Tech with a BS in Biology with a concentration in microbiology. I also have minors in leadership and Chemistry. Therefore my understanding of the sciences and basic mathematics is quite extensive. For two years in school I tutored in mainly Chemistry but I also tutored in Chemistry applied mathematics such as statistics, geometry and algebra. I also was an EMT for five years and as part of my duties I mentored the new EMTs. I also, as a senior EMT member, hosted many Girl Scout and Boy Scout events.
