I fundamentally believe anyone can learn. If a student isn’t grasping a concept, it just means I have to change my style of teaching. I find working with children rewarding. I am patent and understanding and cater to individual learning styles. I use my artistic sense to help students visually understand learning. I believe the key to understanding and learning is to make learning fun and memorable. I'm a strong believer in constructivist learning and believe that children need to explore to learn. I started out working as a Head Start teacher's assistant and the following year I was promoted to Head Start teacher and manager. I have also worked as a 1:1 instructional assistant with a high needs student. Currently I worked in a behavior school as an instructional assistant, and I have stepped in to plan curriculum and teach all the classes because the teacher has been on paid leave this year. No one teaching style works with all students, or even a majority of them. I enjoy the challenge of finding ways to make academic subjects interesting and relevant to different students. I usually use a combination of guided discovery, question-and-answer, and hands-on approaches to teaching and learning.
