A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style varies upon subject and student.
I graduated from Jefferson High School in the spring of 2012. I now attend Indiana University-Purdue University in Fort Wayne. I have two younger siblings and 4 younger step-siblings that I have helped with their homework, or helped them better understand material assigned to them. Their ages range from 8-17. I know how to explain certain subjects in multiple ways to ensure that eventually the student will understand the material. I am very patient, and I understand that some people learn at slower rates than others. I am majoring in nursing, though I considered teaching English before making this decision. I love teaching, and am looking to make some extra money for things I need while in college.

My comments on tutoring Algebra : I am currently teaching three Algebra I courses and have tutored several students over the past few years in this content area. I can break this topic down into its most basic form!

My approach to tutoring is built around my belief that all students can learn. Once a proper foundation is in place, my strategy involves helping students master mathematical concepts one step at a time. What is sometimes taught in the classroom as a "single step" may in reality be several steps all rolled into one. My approach involves taking these "single steps" and breaking them down so each student can fully understand what is required and why. Even at a young age I taught my younger sister basic mathematical and reading skills even before she entered kindergarten; we called it "school".
