A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored four different children (1st-5th grade) over the course of four years for the Teton Literacy Program, a non-profit group located in Jackson, Wyoming. I met with each child after school at the facility or the local public library for hour-long sessions, working on grammar, pronunciation, and writing, focusing on each students' strengths and weaknesses and helping them catch up to their appropriate grade level as well as building their confidence. In addition, I worked on the I-CAN book project, through the Literacy Program, coaching a second grade class with the creation and assimilation of a story book.

I enjoy taking what I know about a subject, weighing what my student's learning style is and then tailoring a lesson so that student best understands the material. I welcome the moment when the lesson "clicks" for the student and when subject matter on paper or in a book becomes personal knowledge. To me, the true skill and knowledge of a teacher can only be quantified in how her student apprehends and applies the lesson.
