As a literacy-based educator, I have served 12-years as an elementary teacher, including 5 years as a literacy coach/consultant supporting, guiding and modeling on behalf of new, veteran teachers and support staff to improve all students' learning outcomes. Teaching for me is a calling. My reward is watching my students grow academically and socially. As a lifelong learner, I seek to ignite a spark for self-discovery in my students' lives. Beginning in June of 1999, I raised my three children full-time. During that time, I worked part-time as a Therapeutic Mentor for PSC of Maine(www.provcorp.com). My B.A.in English from the University of Maine at Augusta, where I graduated magna cum laude, and my participation in the ProLiteracy America program as a Literacy Volunteer was inspired by my life-long love of literature. I have taken courses in Interpersonal Communications, Ethics, and Advanced Technical Communications, all of which expand my purview as a tutor. I am an avid bibliophile and am well acquainted with both American and European literature with an emphasis on Shakespeare.
I have greatly enjoyed my experience as a Substitute Teacher and Literacy Volunteer as I truly enjoy helping others.
