Based on my experience, I believe that anyone has the capability to learn and expand their knowledge on a subject - if they put the work in. My goal is for my students to begin to "learn how they learn" so they can develop the self-confidence to begin solving problems on their own. I facilitate student growth by assessing strengths and weaknesses, focusing on problem areas, and improving problem solving skills. A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored a fellow student in Finite Mathematics during college for one semester. I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Psychology, working hard to finish my degree in three years. I recently took online classes in order to achieve my Masters of Science in Education. I have worked as a general paraprofessional in elementary schools for two years and a one-on-one paraprofessional for the last year. I have taught sunday school and afterschool church programs for at least three years and am very involved in my own children's schooling.

I can usually find a way to relate the material that the student is struggling with to something else that they understand. When they can make connections to more familiar things, then they can think themselves through problems more effectively. I usually achieve this by showing them how to do a problem, doing a problem or two with them, and then having them do problems on their own, only assisting when they need it.
I have always picked things up quickly, more quickly than my peers. My peers have often come to me to ask for my help in those areas. I also see how to apply what I have learned to original problems because I see connections and hold a deeper understanding of the material.
