My very first year of teaching was at the Lehigh Valley Performing Arts High School, and I also taught for two years at Northern Lehigh High School. A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently back in the Reading area after completing two years with Teach For America on Chicago's Southside. While there, I taught 9th Grade English/Test Prep and 6th Grade writing, which I loved! Two years ago, I graduated from Barnard College, which is the undergraduate women's college of Columbia University in New York. During my time in New York, I tutored many young children in English/writing and French conversation and grammar.Because of my content area, my tutoring strengths are English, writing, test-prep and grammar work. As a Penn State graduate, I earned a B.S. in Earth Sciences with a minor in Chemistry, assisting a paleoclimatology laboratory on campus for three years. I then enrolled at Bloomsburg University as a graduate student for a M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction, and worked as a graduate assistant. My teaching style is one in which I find ways to relate content to the students' everyday lives. I like to balance textbook knowledge with practical applications and cultural relevance. I also am a firm believer in planning lessons that require higher order thinking skills yet do not become overwhelming. Since the beginning of the era in which the special education population has began being mainstreamed into regular education classrooms in most schools, I have developed a great practice of differentiated instruction.
