I have a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering and was a software engineer for over 25 years. In 2003, I was certified for Middle School Mathematics in Massachusetts. I have enjoyed being a substitute teacher over 200 days in various Middle and High Schools. I have worked for 20 years in the Awana, youth organization, teaching children from ages 3 through High School. The most important aspect of education that I have learned is that it is not about teachers making a difference; it is about helping students make a difference. Knowing this, I strive to help all students succeed using the most efficient learning strategies possible. Technology is a growing tool in the classroom and I intend to use it as much as possible to engage students and help them learn. For just over a decade I have been involved in some form of peer education or mentoring. As a senior in high school, I tutored students in mathematics and science. As an ACS Certified Chemist, I have been exposed to upper level mathematics, chemistry and physics, but am still required to use writings skills in preparing various reports and papers.
