I was a teaching assistant at North Georgia College and State University for three years. I assisted with laboratory sections of biology courses and taught them in the event of a professors absence. I provided department funded tutoring services during that time as well. I have taken the GRE and Biology Section of the GRE and received excellent scores on both tests in only one sitting. I have also coached 4H horse quiz bowl and horse judging teams for several years working with elementary and middle school age children.

I am a 2012 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a B.S. in Chemistry and concentration in Biochemistry. I have worked as a TA for the sophomore Principles of Biology (II) course as well as the Organic Chemistry Laboratory Course. I have been a tutor & academic mentor for Organic Chemistry since the summer of 2010. Additionally, I was an MCAT tutor & problem solving group leader for my University's MCAT course during the 2011-2012 year. I scored a 37R on the MCAT (PS - 14, BS - 12, V - 11) and a 2260 on the SAT ( Math 770, Verbal 730, Writing 760). I try to use as many resources as are available. What I mean is, in the Anatomy and Physiology labs there were models available to look at. I’ve used molecular models in Organic Chemistry for chemical structure. Sometimes asking a question can start the process of learning. A lot of it depends on the subject matter and the student involved. I try to remain open in my efforts to help others. While enrolled in Anatomy and Physiology, my professor asked if I would be interested in becoming a tutor in the class. At that moment, I felt both a strong desire to help others and the fear of letting others down. I accepted the tutoring position because my passion for learning and helping others won out. I have had several opportunities over the last few years to help my co-workers with their adult education and not only am I able to help, they always return to me when they need more help.
