As a Summa Cum Laude graduate, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned a BS in Business Administration, and a BS along with an M.Ed in Collaborative Special Education, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math, Reading, and science. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers, a Thesis, and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. I have taught for over twenty years from 4th grade to 9th grade; for the last nineteen years, I have taught English at the middle school level. I began my career teaching 4th grade. I have also taught 5th grade and 6th grade English and Math. I am highly qualified in Reading K-12 and Middle School Mathematics. For thirteen years, I taught 7th grade. The state course of study requires students to write in all four modes of writing and all seventh graders are tested at the end of the academic year for their writing proficiency. A Little Bit About Me...

I think educators must take into account the different ways in which students learn. For instance, I've noticed that math students may have difficulty adding and subtracting fractions, but have no trouble whatsoever when I ask about dimes and quarters. If an instructor can build a bridge between new material and material the student has already mastered, the student's retention can significantly improve. By getting to know the interests and knowledge of each, I hope to discover bridges that will make learning an exciting and enjoyable process.
I graduated from Wake Forest in 2008, double-majoring in Mathematics and Physics.
