I have taken education classes at Northern Kentucky University. At one point, I was considering on being a Art Teacher. I didn't finish with that path, but I did gain much experience with children and knowledge during that time in working with students. I have worked and studied special needs children as well. I still consider going back for a Master's at some point in education. I think this job would be beneficial in my goals, and for my students, and a great learning experience for us both.
I am not overbearing. I am laid back, but at the same time, I make sure that the student learns what he/she needs to learn. I am very patient. I try to respect the student and not make learning seem like a chore. Building a foundation of learning skills, even during a short tudoring session can really change a student's approach in all of their classes.

My first session with the student is when I can determine whether their learning style is visual, audial, tactile, kinesthetic or a combination of these. I then write a prescription of study with the student that include several objectives and a timeline to achieve these goals. A Little Bit About Me...

After graduating college, I moved to California to earn my teaching credential. I earned it in K-12 Multiple Subject education. I have have 3 years experience teaching, and currently teach 1st grade in Cincinnati Public schools. I have tutored most all elementary grades, and have about 6 years experience doing so. I am patient with students, and my friendly demeanor helps them to be at ease. I am most experienced tutoring in reading, phonics and literacy, but also can tutor in elementary math, English as a Second language, or middle school or high school grammar and writing.
