A Little Bit About Me...

I believe all students can learn but some need explicit strategies to be shown to them. Research shows students who fail often have less background knowledge, remember less, their attention wanders and they lack automaticity, the ability to recall basic facts. I have a tool box full of research proven strategies that work. Discovery learning is not what kids in remediation need. These kids need to be shown specific ways to organize information so they can tell what is important to learn, study skills to recall information, and ways to connect new information to their background knowledge.

A Little Bit About Me...

For three years, I worked as academic aide and tutor for University of Montana Disabled Student Services. Upon graduation and then moving to Florida, I taught environmental science to students and adults of all ages and abilities as forester for Levy county. Currently, I am enrolled in a second Bachelor's degree in psychology.
My teaching style is focused on the assumption that my students are capable of reaching their greatest potential. I provide a comfortable learning environment, and expect my student to be at ease when working with me. It is incumbent upon me to discover the learning styles to which each of my students are most receptive. I expect greatness and use positive reinforcement when students deliver. A Little Bit About Me...

I was brought up by both of my parents, which I am lucky to say they are both teachers. After I was born my mother stayed a housewife, but my father kept on studying, and teaching at many levels. He has now a PhD, and I am following in his footsteps, not quite same specialties but similar. Throught my working career of over 19 years, I have learned many skills and trades. But the one I have truly loved is learning new things continuosly. I am most comfortable training and tutoring in areas of language, business, basic math, computer skills and knowledge are my forte.
