A Little Bit About Me...

I have a bachelors degree in mathematics which I just recently completed in May of 2015 from Binghamton University. I tutored at the university for 2 years in trigonometry and calculus 1. The list of math topics that my major covered are as follows: Calculus 1, 2 & 3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Number Theory, Real Analysis, Complex Analysis, Topology, Probability and Statistics (as 2 separate courses) and financial mathematics.

My comments on tutoring Statistics : Especially experienced explaining basic statistical concepts to students who typically struggle with math.

Patient and encouraging. I usually like to summarize the material and give a bit of context and work through an example. Then, I like to have the student work out an example independently and we go over it. While going over it, I asked them to explain the steps and their thought process. Generally, I like to ask the student(s) lots of questions so that I can see that they know what they're doing and why they're doing it.
During undergraduate, I tutored several of my classmates in different chemistry and math courses. Additionally, I've had the pleasure of being a teaching assistant for 2 years for undergraduate statistics. I would say that the greatest personal attribute that the Lord has given me when it comes to teaching is patience. I allow the student the time that it takes them in order for them to "get it" without pressuring them. I also like to make the material as simple as possible by teaching in a manner where I like to emphasize understanding as opposed to just being able to do it. And typically I find the best way to offer enlightenment to the student is to take whatever concept it is that I am trying to convey to them and draw an analogy to something basic that they do understand to help bridge the gap to the new concept (the same thing that the Lord Jesus Christ did - John 3:12).

Although I am an engineer by education, I have often found myself in a teaching role of all groups of people.
