Math is life!

I love math, and I find so much excitement in making other people love math. I will be a senior in high school this upcoming year, and i will be taking Calculus 3. Since every subject in may builds upon the previous one, I think it s safe to say I have mastered almost everything from Algebra 1 to Calculus AB. Nothing makes me happier than having others understand math because of how I explained it.
Two ways: One, where I guide the student giving little hints and trying to make them think through the problem themselves. Two, how I learn better, is by seeing the problem done and seeing how all the steps are carried out, and then doing a second, similar problem by oneself.

I am currently attending Air Academy High School as a senior. My expected date of graduation is May 17, 2012. I am studying multiple core classes but take a special interest in English. I have taken multiple classes including grammar, writing, and everywhere in between. I have also taken an assortment of Math classes. Now I am currently taking Functions, Statistics, and Trig. My younger brother and I both have moderate ADHD. While this is technically not a disability it puts a strain on learning new subjects. Throughout my educational career, especially high school, I have learned different methods of studying that help me succeed just as well as my fellow classmates. I believe that everyone is capable of learning a subject. I have been told I am a patient person. I have worked for Liberty High School with their AVID program for over 4 years now, and I have been a personal tutor for about seven years to date. I will be happy to help your student understand their respective subjects, and I may even be able to help you as well. My fees are negotiable so don't worry about being unable to afford my services or anything like that. I look forward to working with you.

The best teachers (and tutors) are able to diagnose why a student is not understanding his schoolwork. Learning "glitches", different learning styles, and a fear of being wrong often contribute to the problem. I try to discern how the student is thinking about the work, and then I use a variety of techniques to guide him/her to understanding. I might model my own thinking, re-present a concept in an imaginative way, or use another learning style in order to capture the student's interest and encourage them to "risk" in order to learn.
I have extensive experience working with students of all ages, from elementary school through junior college. As a parent volunteer, I tutored K-6 students in math and reading.
