History and English: NOT BORING! RELEVANT!!

Motivation. Hard work is made even harder when we don't enjoy the subject; for example, History can easily become boring and impossible to follow for young, energetic minds. When these events are brought to life, however, and made personally relevant to the student as part of our shared past, we may inspire curiosity which is the prime quality of a young scholar. Grammar and literature can also be tiresome and difficult, but their relevance is much easier to validate as reading and writing will always be crucial skills for our future leaders.

Poetry is one of my top subjects! I love the romantic poets, Byron, Shelly, Keats, Shakespeare, Emily Bronte, John Donne. I have also wrote poetry myself. Poetry is one of my deepest passions and I would be thrilled to discuss it with you and have lots of fun!

A Little Bit About Me...

I am driven to learn as well as to teach. I have a BS in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences and an MA in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, both of which have afforded me great experience not only in the sciences but also in writing skills. My teaching style is probably best suited to high school and college students. Although I successfully helped my own 3 children through their elementary school, high school and college years, my tutoring experience has been with older students. My wife is a Montessori trained teacher so I have absorbed that method for tutoring. Each student must be viewed as an individual to define the areas of weakness and fill them in. It is only when the student understands the basics of a subject that they can build a future in it.
