Based on my experience, I believe that anyone has the capability to learn and expand their knowledge on a subject - if they put the work in. My goal is for my students to begin to "learn how they learn" so they can develop the self-confidence to begin solving problems on their own. I facilitate student growth by assessing strengths and weaknesses, focusing on problem areas, and improving problem solving skills. Physical science and math are often the most difficult subjects for students, but I believe anyone can understand the "basic idea." The difficulty comes from attempting to connect their intuitive understanding with the symbols on the paper. Many students think of these subjects as the memorization of formulas. But if they grasp the "basic idea," they can adapt and apply it to any problems they face. A Little Bit About Me...

I have two different teaching styles depending on whether I am in a preschool setting or middle school type setting. I enjoy a very positive an inviting atmosphere where my students are comfortable while creating a community of learners. I have a strong sense of authority that is initially established, coming from such a young age. I do not expect any more from one student than I would another. During college, I worked as a Teaching Assistant at Duquesne University for 4 years. There I helped to teach the Pharmaceutics Principles Lab to professional Pharmacy Students. Outside of college, I have recently taught math, science and geography to middle school students.

Science and technology do not have to be difficult or abstract. I know how to make Chemistry interesting and relevant to everyday life. If students need help with the math that is required for Chemistry, I know how to bring them up to speed. When students are willing to keep trying to learn, I will keep trying to help them.
