My first priority is talking with the student and figuring out what difficulties they are having with the subject. After identifying some problem areas, I help the student understand the material and teach them effective ways for studying the material. I am very respectful to each student's level of knowledge of the subject at hand, and I know that some topics can be very complicated and frustrating at times. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe the greatest thing about knowledge is the ability to share it. I love to learn, but that is only the first step. The true reward comes in being able to impart that knowledge of someone else. However, each person learns differently. Whether in a classroom setting or one-on-one tutoring, it is imperative that the teacher learn how each student learns. This allows them to teach in a manner that produces the greatest results in students. It is also very important that a teacher cares for their students, that a student knows they are being taught by someone who wants them to learn and is excited about their education. When this nurturing instruction is paired with firm expectations students excel and rise to their potential.

I have taught students in junior high through adult college students. I am an experienced professor with degrees in biology and general science. I am proficient teaching using multiple strategies and methods. I enjoy teaching students with diverse backgrounds and multiple ability levels. I also have strong computer and interpersonal skills.
I love teaching and have taught for 20+ years. I enjoy challenges in teaching and use a variety of teaching methods in order to reach students of multiple ability levels. I am very hands-on. In science this mainly means lab. For tutoring I will use a variety of self-developed labs that use common everyday materials. I look forward to helping students improve their learning strategies as well as their subject material.
