My comments on tutoring Biology : Biology is one of those subjects that is taught in what seems like every grade and college as well, with the subject matter increasing in difficulty every year. I believe, in fact, that this method is the most effective that we currently have. But there are many problems that have left so many students behind. The source of the problem is that if a student has one single semester that they do poorly in Biology for whatever reason, it creates an endless loop of failure because for that student, they are way behind during the next year of Biology and therefore fail or barely pass that semester or year of Biology again, and that vicious cycle just revolves again and again. That is why private tutoring must pick up the slack and make sure that every student catches up to where they are scheduled to be until we can make some changes to our educational system.

I consider myself to be a uniquely seasoned, qualified, and experienced tutor who can adapt to any situation and to any student in order to benefit their education and learning experience. Due to my ability to teach and tutor children and adults of all ages, (in addition to my own near-perfect scores on the SAT & ACT) I was one of the first Instructors hired by PrepExpert, a national company that specializes in preparing students for the SAT, ACT, AP, other exams, and simply for help in regular classes at all levels. This company is so successful and growing so fast because of the unparalleled improvements among students that it recently appeared on ABC's show "Shark Tank," during which Mark Cuban was impressed enough to buy a substantial stake in the company and is a current partner. A Little Bit About Me...

As an English teacher, I have had the opportunities to work with many different ages and levels of students. From foreign kindergarten students through degree seeking college students and varying levels in between, I have learned many different skills to help me approach each learner with the tools that make learning easy and enjoyable. I have professional experience teaching Kindergarten, first grade, sixth grade language arts, and freshmen level college English. I also tutored as an undergraduate student, and have always been willing and excited to work with anyone needing a hand with English.
From having been in the education field for over 10 years, I have come to learn that my teaching style is very much dependent on the learning style of the individual. Introducing young children to language requires a very different set of skills and expectations that teaching freshmen c ... read more

Throughout my career as a student, I have always prided myself on the ability to help others learn. When I was a high school student, I was the one other students would come to with questions, and I always gave an answer with confidence. Then I got to college and began to study Biology. I was so amazed at the broad spectrum of the sciences, that I decided to add a Chemistry component to my college degree. Through Chemistry I could better understand Biology. Then I realized that the whole time, I was increasing my ability to teach and learn, so I added an Education component to my college degree, and that has brought me to the point I am at now.
As an education student, I saw many opportunities in that field. I also saw the diversity of learners, and the need for a diversity in the way education is approached. I began to challenge myself by removing limitations like language, and se ... read more

I enjoy working with children and being actively involved as they progress in their journey of learning. I believe that all children have the ability to learn. As a teacher, it is my duty to identify the particular learning style each student uses to learn and succeed. I believe that if a child is given a patient teacher, an environment that encourages learning, and is recognized when they succeed, any child can succeed and learn what is needed to become our future leaders.
I have been given the opportunity to teach elementary education for a total of 4 years. During this time I have taught 1st grade and 5th grade. In addition, I also have 4 years experience in special education-Resource.

Excellence in education and curiosity in the natural world, instilled in me since elementary school, has driven me to be an “A” student through my college education. The curriculums in premedical studies, zoology, and biological sciences, provided me the knowledge to comfortably teach and discuss math and science to all levels of pre-secondary students, while working as a temporary/substitute science/math teacher, and to college undergraduate students, during assignment as a graduate teaching assistant. A summer job as an instructor of nutrition, introduced me to teaching older adults. Tenure as a Chemist for 30 years permitted me to train and mentor new employees, coworkers, and student interns.
I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others, especially children to whom I provide exposure and enthusiasm of learning and understanding, so that they not only understand what they need to ... read more

Teaching has always been a part of my life. My mother was constantly teaching me, along with my siblings and the twenty other children that ran in and out of our home. I believe strongly in a teaching method that provides encouragement and positivism; one that highlights the good before pointing out the mistakes. My goal is to listen to the child and hear what his or her needs are and where he or she is struggling, and then to actively tackle one issue at a time through creative and interactive activities, problem-solving, and constructive criticism. I believe in children, their innocence, their carefree energy and endless intelligent ideas and innovations. My ultimate goal in life is to make a difference, and children are a great place to start!
Growing up my mother ran a tutoring program out of our home. This is where I initially learned the skills involved in tutoring. Ever sinc ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed teaching and helping people learn. I discovered that I had a knack for it when I participated in a program tutoring fellow students while I was in high school. I have found that the most effective way to tutor children is to get them excited about learning as well as to make sure that they believe in themselves. I have seen that all children can learn if they have the desire, the motivation, and the proper guidance.
I attended very rigorous academic institutions for both high school and college that demanded that their students achieve a well rounded education. As a result, I possess a vast amount of knowledge in a wide array of subjects. I am a very proficient writer and have also passed college level calculus and statistics. I have tutored students in all 5 basic subjects as well as Spanish, which I can speak, read, and write.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had the heart of a teacher. I spent many hours as a child playing school. I am committed to mastery of skills especially writing, reading, and math. I am an avid learner and enjoy learning through many different modalities. As a result, I enjoy finding creative ways to engage my students. I also believe that students need to learn to discipline themselves to be successful even when learning is not as "fun" as they might desire. I have worked to help my students overcome areas of difficulty and become confident, versatile, self-directed learners. My heart beats in sync with the desire of dedicated teachers to promote character, achievement, citizenship, and hope.
After receiving my BA in Psychology, I enrolled in graduate courses to become a licensed K-8 teacher. For the past twenty-three years, I have been a K-12 homeschool teacher, teaching my eight children. I have ... read more

My teaching style is unique. I make sure that students learn by doing, not by watching me do problems. As a student i always found that the most effective teachers used a style that allowed the student to do problems and ask questions. Today i put these practices to use in my tutoring. I believe that no child is a lost cause and that any child can learn given the right circumstances.
I have been a tutor throughout my undergraduate career. I have been employed by a tutoring service as well as independently. I have tutored all levels of high school Mathematics as well as most undergraduate level mathematics courses. I have 3 years experience in these various fields.

I am currently employed at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum as an education assistant. I teach education programs for the museum in an informal setting. I work with students in grades K-5 and occasionally high school. The goal of museum education is to reinforce classroom curriculum while instilling a new appreciation for natural science and wildlife. I also help in the development of new programs using the Clark County Curriculum Essential Framework. My position also requires me to use research skills and time management skills. I have also interned at two other museums as an educator.
Children are amazing how much information they can learn, but often children need to be presented with different methods of learning and teaching. I enjoy teaching in an informal setting where students can learn in a multi-sensory environment. I plan to incorporate this type of informal teachi ... read more
