I have tutored classmates and friends throughout college and after in science and math disciplines. My younger sister struggled in school and I assisted her with all disciplines from grades K-12. I studied Chemical Engineering at West Virginia University and got my degree in four years. Classes I took included four semesters of calculus, including multivariable and differential equations, two semesters of physics, inorganic and organic chemistry, and several chemical engineering specific classes. For instance, I've noticed that math students may have difficulty adding and subtracting fractions, but have no trouble whatsoever when I ask about dimes and quarters. If an instructor can build a bridge between new material and material the student has already mastered, the student's retention can significantly improve.
