Biology is one of my top subjects! I have a B.S. in Biology. In addition to general biology courses, I also have experience in Human Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Parasitology, Epidemiology, Ecology, and other coursework.

I have experience tutoring age 8-12 reading, science, and math for a child with a learning disability. After spending summers being tutored by me, the child I worked with made the honor roll. I also participated in peer tutoring throughout high school. Additionally, I was a Teaching Assistant for Medical Parasitology at John Carroll University, where I prepared materials for class and tutored my peers.

The goal of my approach is to enable students to have a level of ownership in learning concepts and ideas. Merely teaching the idea is not enough, and that "Oh, I see" moment must occur to embed the idea for long-term growth. I enjoy relating the ideas and facts to real world examples that almost anyone can grasp.

I have tutored students individually at school, but a tutor needs to start somewhere or will never get experience. I have always helped fellow students with homework by explicitly explaining answers when they are asked or at least triggering their minds to what they need to learn. I am anxious to teach middle school aged kids as it will be a fun experience and I have always thought about teaching kids, because we all need to have the opportunity to an education.
I do not have a specific style of teaching for each student. Each student has their different way of learning. I would start out trying several ways, such as; visual, hearing, physical etc and see what the student is most comfortable with and which one is most likely to educate the child in a way that the student will remember the information while struggling the least.

I love children and I love teaching children. I teach using a variety of methods. I have learned that children have different ways of learning. Some children are visual learners so I used plenty of visual aids when teaching these children. Some children are kinetic learners so I made sure that I used manipulatives when teaching these children. I believe that all children have a "best way" to learn.
