I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Corporate Communication Studies. During my final semester as an undergraduate, I applied for Teach For America and was accepted as a 2014 Corps Member in the Rio Grande Valley. Part of my Teach For America Summer Institute required corps members to teach summer school at Houston ISD campuses, where I taught middle school math at Patrick Henry MS. I was hired by Harlingen HCISD for the 2014-2015 academic year at the Harlingen School of Health Professions as an Algebra I instructor. It has been my privilege to teach at many levels and venues over my career which started in the mid 70’s. Elementary Education was my first major, and I enjoyed teaching in a Christian setting at 5th and 6th grade levels for many years. I opened my own Reading Center to help special students. Later I went to graduate school at St John’s College. I’ve taught Jr. High, H.S., and Jr. College.
