I recently graduated from the Evergreen State College with a degree in mathematics. My other fields of study included chemistry, computer science, and physics. I have numerous hours of laboratory experience to support my in class and text book understanding of the materials covered. I've been a tutor at TESC for 3 years now working with students from all walks of life and working on any scientific material I've had any experience with. I believe that whenever I'm working with a student they have the capacity to learn and internalize the material. I believe that the student can learn the material. My method of mathematical and scientific instruction is based off the Polya style of teaching where the instructor guides their students by questions and reviewing the known information. Although I lack experience teaching, I have a complete understanding of calculus and the physical sciences to offer. I have a BS in Biology and have 14 years experience in analytical chemistry. I'm patient and recognize feelings when somebody doesn't understand. I really believe that understanding Maths or Physics is easy when the required background is present. It's like a chain where chapters are links required to continue to the next one. If you loose one it's hard to get other. That's why the first step is knowing the student's level. Once this is done I review what he is learning then I can make a plan to update him. When this level is reached the Student is ready to continue alone. Then follow up is important to asure that the person is able to become self contained.
