My comments on tutoring Elementary Science : I have student teaching experience in the elementary school setting.

I studied Elementary Education during my undergraduate. During this time, I was a student teacher on several different occasions. I assisted the home room teacher and independently planned and taught lessons to the students. I have worked with grades 1 to 5 as a student teacher. I enjoyed teaching and was a very passionate teacher, but I realized that work as a social worker would allow me to help my students on a more personal level. During my work as a social worker, I worked with clients in the school and home setting. I educated teachers and school staff regarding my client's mental illnesses, and I developed classroom strategies to help my clients thrive in the classroom. Over the course of my professional career, I have spent 22 of my 25 years as a 4th grade teacher. This was a goal of time since childhood, having been inspired by my own 4th grade teacher. I still love this age and remain inspired by my own students. I have, over the years, received training through my full time employer to keep me up to date of the ever changing techniques that education introduces. I love teaching all ages and skill levels. I adjust my teaching style to the individual - some people are visual learners or oral learners or hands-on learners. I teach by example and try to encourage my students to understand "why" rather than just "how."
I began college as an engineering major, so I have background in advanced mathematics and physics. I went on to change my major to psychology where I gained knowlege of social and behavioral sciences, as well as research technologies and statistical analysis.
