I have found that the best way to teach math is through analogy and real world examples. I prefer to teach general as opposed to specific methods, as these are more widely applicable. However general methods appear to be best taught through specific examples and with a great deal of patience. I am also a great fan of student encouragement as nothing can be done by the student if hey lack the necessary confidence. I received a technology degree in 1975. Several years later I returned to college to persue a Physics/Mechanical Engineering Degree from SUNY New Paltz and RPI.
