Since April 2007, I have been a substitute teacher at both the Watkins Glen High School and Middle School. Frequent subjects include English, Psychology, and Physical Education. I belong to a writers group which meets at the local library every first and third monday. I belong to a chess club that meets at a coffee shop every Thursday. I also assistant coach varsity and college soccer during the spring and fall seasons.
I believe that education should present as much material to the student as possible, which includes using various textbooks, lecture, and inquiry. After that, it will be up to the student to assess and construct the information given in order to form his/her own opinion about the subject matter. True education and learning is ownership of the subject matter which comes through effort and discipline and a little bit of guidance.

As a graduate of a doctoral degree in Executive Leadership and a Master's Degree and Bachelor's degree in Education, graduating with honors, I value education tremendously. I have experience in leadership studies, childhood education, and working with students who have special needs or less prepared for college. I have worked as a teacher in three settings, preschool, science, and with teenage women on parole and probation in a residential treatment facility. Throughout my education I've had a drive to teach. While earning my BS in chemistry with minor in biology I assisted many fellow students by acting as both a laboratory assistant and as a tutor in general chemistry and organic chemistry. My teaching experience continued into my post-graduate career where I acted as a Teaching Assistant primarily responsible for teaching 2 to 3 organic chemistry laboratory sections per semester. Because of my course of education as well as my continuous participation in teaching I've had ample experience helping prepare students for exams as well as writing research papers and laboratory reports.
