I believe the best way to learn is by working one on one and then taking the lessons learned and working out problems with out a tutor present and then bringing back the problems that caused a struggle. Even better is working in a group of peers and then checking in with a tutor weekly so that the student and tutor can zero in on what the sticking points were that week.

I have over fifteen years of teaching experience in the areas of mathematics, physics and astronomy. I taught at colleges and universities in the State of Illinois, Big Sandy Community and Technical College located in Prestonsburg; Kentucky, and I taught at Xavier University School of Medicine in Aruba; Dutch Caribbean. I earned a PhD in Physics from The University of Chicago.

As a Purdue graduate, I was the recipient of the highest level of instruction in math and science. After earning a Masters Degree in Math from UK, I accepted my first teaching position at Northern Kentucky Community College where I served as chair of the Math Dept from 1962-66. I returned to UK to pursue a doctorate in math and was assistant to the chair of the math department. During this time, I taught 2 undergraduate courses per semester from 1966-77. In 1977, I became Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, a position I held until I retired in 2005. While serving as Assistant Dean, I often taught evening classes composed of both undergraduates and non-traditional students.
