Obtuse; willing to think outside of the box to get the student interested, even, excited to learn.
I have tutored fellow classmates in HS. I've taught my nieces and nephew to understand and love mathematics, as well as respect science, which is really just the real-world application of mathematics. I can explain many abstract topics in tangible ways. I love when I see that twinkle in someone's eye when something clicks and they grab onto the topic they once didn't comprehend.

I have found that reward goes much farther than ridicule or punishment when motivating a student to believe in themselves, and thus excel. I also teach the importance of information. For 1:1 tutoring my teaching style will vary depending on the individual's needs and the topic covered. I try to work at the student’s learning pace in an effort to allow the student time to comprehend and retain what is covered within the session.
