My approach to teaching is more of a "why" approach. It is more important for students to know why something is or works rather than just how. This approach works well for middle and high school students. It allows students not only to understand the ideas taught but to apply them to other areas as well. I also like to use visual aids as well as conversation. I have found that many of us vary widely in learning styles. Some are visual learners, others are audio learners, and still others are a combination. I work well one-on-one but also enjoy small groups. I have earned a bachelors degree in Accounting and Business Management, along with a minor in Economics. I have worked for Northwest Savings Bank for the past 3 years, in many different areas. In my position, I help produce a quarterly report that is given to the department heads and shows the overall financial position of the bank. I also help lenders determine the financial situation of a potential borrower. While in college, I began tutoring 3-4 fellow students in Accounting. I love working with all children and I believe that my experience working for Northwest Savings Bank would be an asset to helping children understand the finance and accounting world. I enjoy teaching young learners in hopes of getting them excited about the subject area of business. I use all the main teaching tools. Both hands on and visually for those students who need different tools. I love to interact with children and adults helping them through their classes to better their future. I also enjoy having a hand in their future success. I truely believe that a great teacher is one who teaches for the greater growth of their pupils and personally I strive to help them succeed. As an Honor roll student, a student on the Dean's list I was lucky to have graduated early. I taught six graders through opelia. I have also tutored a master's Student through her Statistics. Currently tutoring a student via online on her Senior Algebra for her Liberal Arts degree. I will hold a BA degree come december of 2010.
