A Little Bit About Me...

From 1991-2004,I worked as a Transition Teacher for student's with disabilities. My primary responsibility was to do planning, motivation, student self-assessment,individual performance that was teacher observed and on site assessment by the employer in a supported work environment.I've also taught Social Studies and Economics at the Secondary level. At the present, I am teaching Literacy and ESL at the Elmira Correctional Facility in Elmira, New York.

A Little Bit About Me...

Employed at Harrisburg High School, Harrisburg, PA as a 9th grade World cultures teacher (2005-2007). Prior, I was a substitute teacher for the Elmira City School District (2004/05). Currently I am a substitute with the Northern Tioga School District, I work in all grades and certification areas. Due to my extensive substituting experience I can cover multiple subject areas but still have the passion for the social sciences.
My teaching style is very well rounded. Meaning I utilize a vast array of tools, high tech to low tech. From smart boards (promethean), webquests via the internet, to old fashioned poster board in a cooperative learning atmosphere. I feel it is important to understand what is different and unique about every student. Not all students will learn in the same way, nor will they find their desire to learn in the same way. I feel it is my duty as a teacher to find what these ways are for every student. Differentiation is vital to the learning process and can only be executed effectively if you know your students.
In high school I tutored junior high students who were having trouble in with school. After high school I joined the U.S Navy, where I trained junior personal for three years. I used my G.I bill Benefits to attend the University of Connecticut, where I received my Bachelors in History with a minor in Political Science. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is my passion. I work extremely well versed at working with kids. I have been working for a before and after school program for 2 years now. I believe in never giving up on any child. In my field experiences I have been in teachers see improvements with their struggling students. In teaching I believe in differentiated instruction. I think it is extremely important to find out what the student it interested in and base their learning off of that weather it be math, reading, or science.
I have currently completed 161 credits at Fredonia State. I am 18 credits away from being a certified teacher k-8 with a concentration is History. I have complete EDU 250 Intro to exceptional learner where I tutored a 2nd grader in reading.
