My comments on tutoring Drama : SAG member. I have worked on large productions, i.e. The Thin Red Line, E.R., as an actor, but my roots lie in theater before my conscience history began. My parents were both entertainers.

I have been a professional print/broadcast journalist for roughly 15 years. I am a perpetual student and am currently finishing my bachelors in communications online at the University of Tampa and have been accepted in their Master of Fine Arts program for Film Studies. An MFA is a terminal degree, so I will be qualified to teach on a collegiate level upon graduation. As reality often transcends policy, I currently take interns from a local SUNY institution and mentor young broadcasters, so as technology evolves, I will as well. My main body of work is primarily broadcast, but I regularly produce print articles for both online and print publications. From developing concepts for solid stories to completed final products, I am adept at producing both broadcast and print work.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a hands on teacher who really relates one on one to students. As a Business Teacher I have had to keep my knowledge of business up to date with new technologies. I can help and be very effective in most subject areas for elementary. With regards to MS & HS I would limit my tutoring to areas of English, Social Studies, Economics, and Business. The only areas of Math would be basic adding/subtracting, multiplying/dividing and learning scientific notations. As a Business Teacher and having a Masters Degree I totally understand how to write papers & format correctly using a PC. This should be an incredible help for your child. I truly enjoy teaching.
I am a NYS Permanently Certified Business Teacher. I enjoy working with all students. I have a Masters Degree in Education and a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration. I have worked 2 long term positions in public schools ... read more

I tutored kids during their free time at school in all subject areas (english, math, science, spanish, health, etc.)
As a teacher, I try to create various interactive activities that are fun and educational. First, I try to get to know the student and see where they are academically and from their, I create their educational plan, based on their learning technique. I believe education is important, because it drafts our societies future; because kids are our future. I would like to ... read more

Since receiving a Bachelor's in English and Writing, I have developed many diverse skills in addition to those I learned in school. While working as an editor for a publishing company, I was able to hone my ability to write and communicate clearly through the written word. I have also studied music and art from a young age including such subject areas as piano, voice, flute, cello, ceramics, and photography. I have also worked in many environments that required knowledge and use of math skills. I also earned a Master's in education and have worked with children who have disabilities in a recreational environment. In addition to the above credentials, I am recently certified as a fitness trainer.
I am a strong believer in relational learning and that is why I support the concept of tutoring. One-on-one instructional guidance from someone who knows and respects you is a great mo ... read more

I began teaching in fifth grade when my science teacher conceded that I knew more about sharks than he did, so when we got to that lesson, I took over for two days. In tenth grade, I had an internship at my high school teaching ninth grade Global Studies. When I graduated college, I began substitute teaching while I wrote my first few novels. I have substituted in every major subject at the high school level. I have also been an adjunct professor teaching study skills and business english at a local college.
I tend to prefer lectures combined with textbook assignments as opposed to teaching either using films, powerpoint presentations or computers. I work best with motivated students, even those with lower abilities, though I teach exclusively at the high school level and above. I am patient and one of my greatest assets is in analology; I have a profound ability to take comp ... read more

When helping others, I do it two ways. I tell them how to do it and guide them through it. Other times, I show them how to do it. However, I do not do it for them. I would love to have the chance to help children succeed in their education! It would be an honor!
I graduated high school in 2000 with a local diploma and then went on to college at Utica School of Commerce. I graduated in 2002 with an Associated Degree as an Administrative Specialist. I have worked at a few different jobs and just went back to college again at Utica School of Commerce and got my certificate degree as a Medical Office Assistant.

More About This Tutor...

I am a professional singer, actress and dancer who has taught throughout my 15 year career. I truly love teaching, especially in a one-on-one or very small group setting. Currently I teach private lessons in: piano, voice and acting. I also teach small-group: Piano, Acting, Choir, Learn to Read Music, Creative Movement, Pilates, Boot Camp, Kick Boxing. I also work with the local home school community as a 'tutor' for math and English.
I believe in mentoring. It does take a few times for the student (young and old) to understand that I cannot teach them anything. I can present information to them and attempt to inspire them to learn, but they are the ones who ultimately teach themselves. I very much enjoy helping them figure out the answers to their own problems. My motto: It is my job to help you not need me anymore!

A Little Bit About Me...

As a central New York native I decided to stay in the area and go to college at Syracuse University. While at Syracuse I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as well as an Art Education Initial certification degree. I enjoyed Syracuse so much that I stayed for my graduate work and earned my MS in Art Education. During my 5 years at Syracuse University I particiapated in various roles working with children. I was a literacy tutor, art workshop teacher, and summer camp teacher.
I enjoy working with students of all ages. The great thing about tutoring is that instead of focusing on the needs of an entire class, the tutor can focus on the needs of one individual student. One thing I believe in with my teaching is to use a three prong method. Some students are visual learners, some are textual learners, and some are audio learners. Because of that, with anything I teach I have it writt ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a professional case manager who over the past 20 + years has held a variety of positions typical of the non-profit world. I work with the disabled population and have extensive successes working with those living with disabilities that fall under the autism spectrum and down syndrome. I am familiar with writing research papers and I am knowledgeable with the APA and Chicago Style of writing. I love English and the way in which words can create pictures in our minds. I am relocating from New York to Minnesota in the Spring of 2010 and I am thrilled to be given an opportunity to return to my favorite passion of teaching and empowering others to become lifelong learners.
I feel that one of my strengths is my creativity towards learning. Not all people learn in the same manner, therefore my teaching style depends on the person I am working with. Some people learn best through ... read more

As a former Principal, Teacher, and Social Worker, I bring 23 years of experience when working with students. My success includes working with children with multiple levels of abilities. Many students from my past come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. Each student, was managed with a philosophy of me as the teacher or principal, serving as adviser to help students make educational gains both academically and individually. As a volunteer with the Salvation Army I have spent many years volunteering with children, teaching Sunday School and Band. When I graduated from Norwich University, the oldest private military school in the nation with a BA in History, and spent two summers working at summer camps as a Swim instructor and lifeguard, I added to my knowledge and experience of teaching and tutoring. I have spent the last 5 years tutoring in History and music, and have general understanding of Science. As a musician I have focused mainly in Brass and vocal music and specialize in Trombone, but am proficient in Trumpet/Cornet, Baritone/Euphonium and Eb Tuba.
As a teacher I realize that every student has a different style of learning, and I work to quickly understand the best ways to teach students in a one on one setting, generally using some form of self-discovery, depending on the subject. When teach ... read more
