A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is sample: Bringing the topic to the student understanding level and be positive about it. I earned both my Masters' and Bachelors' degrees with honors from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. During my academic I learned to excel in everything I do, which help me master the accounting knowledge I have today. While at SIUC, I was also involved in many student organizations such as Beta Alpha Psi, Accounting Society, and NABA. I was the tutoring chair for Beta Alpha Psi for two years and have acquired very good teaching skills. The Director of the School of Accountancy will be a good reference when you need one.

A Little Bit About Me...

As an University of Iowa graduate I have always held education as a high value. I have dedicated my time to personally achieving excellence in education, as well as helping others do the same. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology, a minor in Social Work and with a year and a half math experience at the college level. During the last couple years I was an Academic Mentor for a high school student at West High School in Iowa City and volunteered my time working with students to help improve their educational skills in West High School's Success Center. Because of my elementary background, it is safe to say I am a very patient person and I use that skill in my ability. I allow the children to create their own paths and when there are roadblocks we work together to find a solution. I am not in the habit of giving students the answers. I feel education is most effective when self discovery is involved and I want my students to feel that they are learning and achieving in every way possible. All students are capable of success; some just need more guidance than others.
My teaching experience has been primarily focused on elementary education, however I have tutored freshman in English and History. I have a degree in psychology from St. Ambrose in Davenport and finished my licensure at Ottawa University in Phoenix. I attended Sarah Lawrence College, where I studied English and Spanish literature, Ancient Greek, history and philosophy. I graduated with an MFA in English from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop in May of 2008, and I am currently the Provost’s Post-Graduate Writing Fellow in fiction at the University of Iowa. I have three years of experience teaching college students in English and creative writing. I have also occasionally tutored students at the University of Iowa in Ancient Greek.

As a graduate of Bethel University, I am currently pursuing a teaching career and am committed to excellence. While I was at Bethel, I earned two bachelor degrees, one in Creative Writing and one in Spanish. I assisted numerous friends by copy editing their essays, showing them where I saw they could improve while affirming where I saw their strengths. Each of these friends received A's or B's on their polished work. I also studied in Spain for one semester to complete my degree.
