My comments on tutoring C++ : I hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics and an M.S. in Statistics and have experience teaching undergraduates and graduates.

My diverse skills and experience in mathematics, statistics, and computer programming should be advantageous in this circumstance. I have worked with mathematical software and statistical models since 1989 and love doing collaborative statistical and mathematical research to solve challenging problems. I hold a PhD in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Statistics. I recently worked as an independent machine learning consultant. In this capacity, I dealt routinely with HMM (Hidden Markov) models, neural networks, and LSA and LDA analysis of text data. I have a BA in Microbiology and an MA in Zoology. I have 7-8 years experience teaching biology, ecology, microbiology and environmental science at the college level. In addition I have many years experience in software engineering, technical writing, software quality assurance, and technical editing.
In the classroom I rely on traditional lecture, supplemented by Powerpoint presentations, animations, and lists and diagrams on the white board. I usually assign a research paper. A Little Bit About Me...

Students have different learning styles, so I try to adapt my tutoring style to best suit the needs of the student. I have a unique ability to explain complicated concepts on a simple level. I try to make sure that the student really understands the concepts, rather than just teaching him or her to mechanically do the work. When working on problems, I generally use an interactive approach, in which I ask the student questions designed to direct his or her thinking in the right direction. In this way, the student is deeply involved and is encouraged to think and to use what he or she does know to figure out what is needed. This also gives the student confidence in his or her own ability.
