I believe that the basics (technique) is very important. It is the foundation for all forms of dance.
I have been dancing since the age of three. I received my early training from LaGrange School of Ballet in LaGrange, GA. I have training and teaching experience in classical ballet, jazz, modern dance, hip-hop, praise dance, and lyrical. I received a B.A. in Dance Performance from the University of Alabama in 2004. Past performances include The Nutcracker, Coppelia, Cinderella, Hairspray, and Chicago to name a few. I am the past resident choreographer/senior instructor for Ballet on Wheels in Memphis, TN.

A Little Bit About Me...

When I was in 7th and 8th grade I participated in America Reads where I helped teach elementary children how to read. In college I assisted with my church youth group and led classes approximately once a month for two years. During 2010 I volunteered with a Kindergarten class. I assisted the students with in-class assignments in writing and math. I hold a bachelors degree in accounting with a minor in vocal performance. I also studied German during this time. I have completed 17.5 semester hours towards a masters degree in liberal studies with a focus in international business and German. I am currently working on my MBA and plan to complete it in December of 2012.

During the last 10 years I have worked with all levels of students, preschool through college levels. These areas include reading, math, english, psychology, science and social studies. I am a self starter and have worked with parents when I owned/operated my private daycare. I have since then worked with children in low poverty communities in Atlanta Georgia, in order to provide an alternative method to learning to ensure that children receive the appropriate level of understanding of various subjects.
What I have learned working with students is that many do not learn in the same manner. I beleive in what is called top process learning. Given the student a concept and allowing them to explore the possibilities of how one arrives at such a concept has allowed deeper critical thinking and strategic planning. With my collegiate experience, I have taught as a ESL assistant at school; helped special needs college students through reading and producing Books-on-Tape; and served as an ESL tutor for Inlingua. Indeed I have developed and perfected my communication and writing skills from writing research papers, laboratory reports, essays and public presentations of my work.
