I am a firm believer in the ability to learn, and that everyone can it just may take few tries to find the correct technique to gather information. I am a patient and caring person when it comes to education. I will take my time and make sure learners understand everything I am teaching. I have been educating learners in the content of science for the past three years. I gather information from my experiences in my education to help learners get the best knowledge they can get. I am always looking for new information to not only increase learners knowledge but also my own. I have experience working with both audio/visual learners and a kinesthetic/tactile learner. The kinesthetic/tactile learner had learning disabilities akin to ADD, but still did very well in the small group environment. I believe that children who want to learn will do so given the proper setting and sufficient time to succeed. I have very high patience for children who try hard and still struggle, but I do expect the student to give their best effort at each task. I earned a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University in 1984. My subjects of passion were math and science and I enjoy working with children who struggle in those areas. Perhaps stemming from my time as the owner of a successful construction company, I've found that I learn best when I'm provided mental imagery, which often means the employment of analogies and metaphors. Cell biology became simplified when viewed as the textile manufacture and the subsequent distribution and utilization of the products. Due to being a non-traditional student I've also realized that patience is imperative. I've felt like instructors have given up on me in the past, only to keep forging ahead either by myself or with the aid of a tutor and eventually master whatever material was at hand.
