A Little Bit About Me...

While I was in High School I tutored Elementary students in reading, spelling, science and social studies in all grades. I also tutored high school students in English and math to pass school entry exams. I had a 100% passing rate! During my University career I tutored students in Micro and Macro Economics, all maths, Spanish and Machine Dynamics and Control. I've also received training on how to use different tools to tutor students that understand at different levels. I never give up on students and always try to use different tools to help them understand. I like seeing them encouraged and feel like they can do anything they set their mind to!

The teaching style I use is solely dependent on the learning style of the student I am teaching. I was always one to seemingly understand or learn things backwards from many of my piers and so I am intimately aware of the importance of knowing how the student learns in order to best go about teaching in such a way that it feels right and natural to the student, boosting their confidence and so promoting additional success in the endeavor. I graduated from Henderson State University with a BA degree in sociology and since then I have worked in residential treatment facilities as a therapist, a teacher, and tutor or councelor. I am currently a CASA volunteer in Fayetteville, assisting children who need advocacy in the court system. I have been a freelance writer here in Fayetteville for many years and have had much of my writing published. I love to help children learn all that they possibly can because I feel that a quality education is the great equalizer. I am easy-going, task-oriented, and very passionate about helping those who may be having trouble in learning something.
While in attendance at the University of Arkansas, I earned two degrees, a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in American Studies. In addition to these degrees, I also earned a minor in History.
