I am currently attending Air Academy High School as a senior. My expected date of graduation is May 17, 2012. I am studying multiple core classes but take a special interest in English. For the past four years I have been working at The Children's ARK-A residential treatment facility for at-risk youth. I was a teaching assistant my first year and I have been teaching for the last three years all content areas and subjects for grades 5-8. At the outset of the personal computer revolution I sold and supported Tandy computers. As part of the support function I instructed clients in the use of their computers. A whole new world blossomed for me. Teaching clients to use their computers turned out to be a long term and very rewarding experience. During my thirteen years as The Computer Tutor I encountered a multitude of student learning difficulties. I recently completed two years of teaching Physical Science in a secondary school in Namibia as a Peace Corps volunteer. Prior to that I earned a BS in Computer Science which included a mathematics minor and courses in physics and chemistry. I tutored throughout my time in the Peace Corps, my undergraduate studies and my high school years.
As a classroom teacher I quickly learned to engage each student individually. I prefer tutoring because I can tailor my instruction to a specific student.
