A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with children of all ages and enjoy helping them learn. I realize that everyone does not learn at the same speed and am very patient and understanding. I believe that all children have the right to a quality education and over the years have spent as much time as I could helping any child that needed that extra one-on-one. Each child has their own unique personality and a teacher's approach needs to be fit to that student's needs. Learning is fun and all children deserve the chance to learn.
I was not able to obtain a teaching job when I graduated from college so went to work in the field of business. Examples are key to almost every tutoring session, the trick is knowing what example to use. Leading the student to find the answer themself builds their confidence and increases understanding. I believe that children learn best when they are given confidence and support in every step they take. It can be a frustrating time for them and they need to know that they have everything they need to be successful and to learn a new skill. Patience, trust and understanding are vital to a child wanting to learn and be open to trying new things. I have found that most children learn best by a hands on approach and providing them with guidance and constructive critique.
